BWT Vietnam Partners with HCMUTE for Workshop on Advanced Water Treatment
On the afternoon of November 11, 2025, BWT Vietnam collaborated with the Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education (HCMUTE) to host a specialized workshop on “Advanced Water Treatment.” The event attracted strong interest from students eager to advance their expertise in the field of water treatment.

Distinguished Speaker
The workshop was honored to feature Mr. Thomas Nyman Larsen — Project Director and BWT Denmark expert with over 30 years of experience in water treatment. Mr. Thomas specializes in membrane filtration and ion-exchange technology and previously participated in multiple water treatment projects in Vietnam funded by DANIDA between 1998 and 2004. He was also stationed in Vietnam from 2002 to 2004, giving him in-depth understanding of local water challenges.

Key Highlights
During his presentation, Mr. Thomas shared updated perspectives on:
Current water treatment practices: Reviewing conventional treatment processes, operational requirements, and practical challenges in managing municipal and industrial water.
Global trends: Discussing the worldwide transition from conventional treatment systems to advanced technologies, designed to address emerging challenges such as PFAS/PFOS, microplastics, and persistent organic pollutants.
Technological solutions: Exploring the application of membrane filtration, UV/Ozone disinfection, and ion-exchange processes to enhance efficiency and ensure water quality in the context of urbanization.
The workshop not only provided in-depth knowledge but also created opportunities for students to engage with advanced solutions, opening practical directions for teaching, research, and the application of water treatment technologies in Vietnam.

Acknowledgements
BWT Vietnam extends sincere appreciation to HCMUTE for the collaboration, to Mr. Thomas Nyman Larsen, and to all participating students whose enthusiasm contributed to a highly valuable and informative session. The event reaffirmed BWT’s commitment to knowledge sharing and to supporting academic institutions in developing high-quality human resources for safe and sustainable water treatment in Vietnam.
